After two and a half hours of trying myself and my dad were finally able to register for this years Ring of Kerry event. We felt that there was no better way to celebrate this, after the stress and frustration of a morning, than to go for a cycle. And sure there’s no better place then out over the Vee in the Knockmealdown Mountains.
Just for all you film enthusiasts out there, here is the house used as the home of Ryan O'Neal's character in the oscar winning film 'Barry Lyndon'. It’s just on the left of the road as you emerge from a tunnel of rhododendrons before the Knockmealdown Mountains, coming from Lismore.
I mention this as the building, now in ruins has always held a place in my heart as my dad and granddad thatched the roof of the house for the Barry Lyndon film. My dream is to own it one day, but I will have to get the money first....
